Why are your services so costly?

Our writers are outstanding ethical and persuasive writers. Our commitment is to serve the interests of  our clients and their stakeholders in a principled manner during high-stakes communication.

At Millstone Lexicon we focus on our core strengths with excellence and integrity by maintaining a tight team with specific areas of expertise. We offer the services we specialize in, and a close client relationship. Many freelance writing conglomerates employ a large number of writers who they don't know. While this enables them to offer a wide range of services and to accept a large volume of assignments, it dilutes their capacity to manage quality.

Our clients own all rights to our products. Our writers are never publicly credited for their work. Some corporations continue to rely on in-house staff writing and its associated expense because freelance writers typically retain ownership of their material. Millstone Lexicon offers the risk-free flexibility of working with a freelancer and the stability of the staff writer relationship.

We aspire to create legacy results- authentic and influential content meeting our client's immediate needs while worthy to withstand the scrutiny of the years ahead.

Do you coach public speaking?

We do not formally offer coaching in public speaking, but we care about your delivery. Our speeches are written with great consideration and we are very invested in seeing them delivered effectively. While we write we consider the speaking patterns of the person who will make the speech. We will ask you for audio, video and print versions of previous public speaking if available, and we supply a marked copy with delivery guidance. We can provide sample recordings and rehearse as needed. We can recommend formal trainers to interested clients.

Do you write non-corporate speeches for social events?

Technically, no, but you will find that in our provision of customer service exceptions are the norm. Some of our writers really enjoy social writing and are rather indignant when we turn down this type of work. Work outside our typical genres is accepted based on writer availability.

Executive Communication

Does Millstone Lexicon accept smaller jobs like bios and cover letters?

Our editors can be hired to proofread or copy edit anything you have written. If you would like someone to write your bio or cover letter for you, this service can be provided by a Millstone Lexicon intern, generally at a flat rate. Our interns work independently, however their final product will be reviewed by a principal writer before it is released to you. Our high standards are applied to everything we produce. To hire an intern, use our regular contact instructions.

How do I apply to work for Millstone Lexicon?

Principal and Senior Writer and Editor positions at Millstone Lexicon are filled by recruitment, generally following a lengthy freelance or intern association with a writer or editor. Because confidentiality and ethical practices are paramount at Millstone Lexicon, we work with personnel who have proven these qualities over time, in gradually expansive roles. Both writers and editors must meet the requirements for top level security clearance. Please contact us by email if you would like to be notified when an intern position becomes available.

What do you charge for letter writing?

Much like speeches, the cost of letter writing is based on variable factors. Non-speech writing can be priced by the hour, or project-based depending on the needs of the client. Having established ourselves on a reputation for being honest and for advocating honesty in our client's communications, we always endeavour to price our services in the format most advantageous to the client. Many letters of even the most pivotal and influential nature can be composed for much less than five hundred dollars.

How much does speechwriting cost?

The true answer, of course, is "it depends." Speechwriting costs are project-based, meaning that the cost encompasses multiple factors- the type of speech and amount of research or background work required, the deadline for completion and number of writer hours that will be spent creating the final project. Most speeches cost between two and twelve thousand dollars. Information collected during the no-charge consultation will be used to establish a project price which can normally be calculated and provided in the same business day. Additional options with standard pricing are available, such as an audio file of the speech as read by the writer or an audio file of the speech read by a professional reader. Inflection advice and copy markup are included with all speeches.
